RAW : Real Art Workshops

Caroline established RAW Real Art Workshops, devising and delivering tailor-made artmaking sessions to groups, including Te Kura Correspondence School, Te Paranui ‘Plant to Plate’ Permaculture Schools programme, the Marlborough District Council.

She can customise a teaching experience for small groups, based on age, interests and venue. She particularly enjoys working alongside Education programmes through schools, museums and galleries using enquiry-led learning and hands-on experience of artmaking processes. She also gives stimulating presentations about her experience in the world of freelance Illustration and Design.

As part of  “The Art of Wellbeing” to accompany National Mental Health Awareness Week in October 2018, Caroline devised workshops and curated the exhibition. Here are a series of collaborative pieces made in 2-hour workshops, with the Marlborough Youth Trust, St Marks, CARE Marlborough.

She illustrated

childrens book Whisker the Kiwi Chick 2016, (Pub: Big-Words Books, author: Narine Groome), and frequently visits schools to show and talk about the original illustrations alongside the published book.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a RAW facilitator, is getting to meet a wide variety of people. During the 2-day Turning Ideas into Illustrations workshops, participants ranged from 8 to 70 years of age, and all were delighted with the wonderful progress and development of their personal work.
